Dial-Up Networking extends your business network to phone lines, helping you create and maintain a flexible work environment. Based on Microsoft Windows NT Server Remote Access Service (RAS), Dial-Up Networking is ready to use after youve set up Small Business Server. Mobile and work-at-home users and even approved clients or vendors can connect to your network securely and easily.
Dial-Up Networking is simple. Mobile users connect their computers to a phone line and dial in to your Small Business Server computer. They can use files and printers, run applications remotely, connect to the Internet, and check e-mail, as though they were actually at the office.
With Dial-Up Networking, access to your network is almost automatic. When you need to use a file that is accessible only over a dial-up connection, Dial-Up Networking automatically initiates the connection for you. To free up lines for other users and save on long distance charges, Small Business Server can disconnect a caller after a specified length of idle time.
Dial-Up Networking allows a connection to your Small Business Server network for only the users you choose. Users must have a network account that you have set up for Dial-Up Networking use.
Dial-Up Networking ensures complete information transfer. If a file copy in progress is interrupted, this feature remembers the status of the file transfer and continues the transfer automatically when you reconnect.
